This is Tess, who many of you will recognise as Lisa's (one of our registered vet nurses) dog. At the grand old age of 18 years, Tess has been progressively showing signs of "cognitive dysfunction". This is a similar syndrome to Alzheimer's disease in humans. Symptoms vary and may include disturbed sleeping patterns, restlessness especially at night, house soiling and confusion. This can be more distressing for the owner than the dog who may be unaware of the changes.
Although the condition can not be reversed there are many treatments which may help manage and improve the symptoms. Please call us if you have noticed any changes in your aging pet on 01753 858893
